Lackawanna Middle School has been selected to receive a Lowe’s Toolbox for Education grant from the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation.

Middle school officials plan to create a writing garden in the courtyard using the grant, which is for
$5,000.

“The Lowe’s Toolbox for Education program delivers on our commitment to improve the educational environment for students across the country,” said Maureen Ausura, chairwoman of the Lowe's Charitable and Educational Foundation. “We're honored to work with Lackawanna Middle School to support the needs of our local students, teachers and families.”

"We're very thankful to the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation for awarding us this grant," said Lackawanna Middle School Principal Bethany Schill. "The writing garden that we'll be creating will give our students and classes a pleasant outdoor environment to flex their creative muscles."

Since its inception in 2006, Lowe’s Toolbox for Education has provided nearly $45 million in grants to more than 10,000 schools, benefiting more than 6 million schoolchildren.
