Martin Road students pose for a photo at Play60

Excitement was in the air as 40 fifth-grade students from Martin Road Elementary took center field at Highmark Stadium for the Play 60 Charged Up by Wegmans Field Day — an unforgettable opportunity to get active and engage with some of their football heroes.

Hosted in partnership with Wegmans and the Buffalo Bills, the event was designed to encourage kids to stay active for at least 60 minutes a day, a core message of the NFL’s Play 60 campaign. The students rotated through various physical activity stations set up on the field, participating in fun, high-energy challenges that promoted movement, teamwork, and smiles.

Adding to the excitement were appearances by Buffalo Bills players Dorian Williams, Joe Andreessen, Khalil Shakir, Brandon Codrington, and KJ Hamler, who joined the kids in the activities. Whether they were helping with footwork drills, encouraging students during relay races, or sharing laughs over a game of flag football, the players' presence was a highlight of the day.

After a morning of activity, students were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Wegmans, giving them time to refuel and relax in the same stadium where their favorite team plays. Each student also received a special gift bag from the Buffalo Bills, which included a commemorative set of Buffalo Bills Little People — a unique keepsake to remember the day.

The event wasn’t just a field trip — it was a powerful experience blending fitness, inspiration, and community. For the students of Martin Road Elementary, it was a dream day that showed the value of movement and the power of a team — both on and off the field.
