During the week of March 23–27, students across the Lackawanna City School District participated in a dynamic and engaging District-Wide Career Week, designed to spark curiosity, build awareness and help students begin thinking about their future pathways.
From our youngest learners to our graduating seniors, Career Week provided meaningful opportunities for students to explore careers, develop essential skills and connect their learning to real-world possibilities.
District-Wide Career Week reflects our commitment to ensuring that all students, regardless of grade level, have access to meaningful experiences that help them envision their future.
What began as individual career days and special activities within our schools, opportunities for students to explore different career paths and interact with community members, has now grown into a unified, district-wide experience. This evolution represents not only alignment across our buildings, but a shared belief that career awareness and readiness must begin early and be intentionally developed over time.
This year, each of our schools truly went above and beyond, creating engaging, thoughtful and student-centered experiences that brought careers to life. From hands-on exploration in our elementary schools, to real-world connections at the middle level, to skill-building and preparation at the high school, our students were immersed in opportunities to discover possibilities and begin developing the essential soft skills like communication, collaboration, problem-solving and self-awareness that are critical for success in any pathway they choose.
Equally important, this work strengthened the connection between our schools and our community. Through partnerships with local professionals, former graduates and community leaders, students were able to see firsthand that their futures are not only possible, but attainable right here in Lackawanna.
We are incredibly grateful to the teams at each building who came together to plan, organize and bring these experiences to life. Their collaboration, creativity and commitment to our students made this week a success.
As we reflect on the impact of this year’s Career Week, we are excited to continue growing this work, expanding opportunities, deepening experiences and making next year even stronger.
From imagining possibilities in elementary school to actively preparing for life after graduation, one message remains clear: The future starts now and every student has a pathway to success.
