Students from our Lackawanna Drones classes visited the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station and Niagara Aerospace Museum. At the Air Reserve Station, our students met pilots, crew chiefs and security personnel and learned what it takes to become each of these positions.
While at the base, our students had the opportunity to observe a KC-135 Tanker up close, perform a take-off and fly above them. They also observed a test blast conducted by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team. While with the EOD team, we also got the chance to operate robots and see various weaponry. We then went over to the Security Division where students were shown an assortment of military equipment at the disposal of the Air Reserve.
At the Aerospace Museum, our students learned about the history of flight and tried their hand at flying model airplanes. Then, they learned about the symbolism behind space patches that are found on the arms of astronauts and more information about the vast complexities of outer space.
All around, the trip was a fantastic and educational experience for our students!
